You are learning how to #speakdog. The good news is your dog already knows this language, so please don’t complicate things by deviating from what we covered during our lesson or from our printed materials.
Showing your dog good leadership when your dog is adrenalized, when your dog is 8 – 10, is difficult. Your dog will not trust you can handle whatever the situation is and will have a difficult time respecting you as a consistent leader. Instead, show your dog you are a good, capable leader when your dog is a 1 – 3 and certainly when they are 1 – 7. Your dog will thank you for your consistency and begin to trust and respect you more and more.
In short, how you practice when your dog is a 1 – 3 has a direct result in your performance at game time when your dog is an 8 – 10. So if you are not practicing, do not be surprised when your dog treats you how a top-ranked professional would treat an unranked amateur.
