FRODO is an 8-year-old, male Poodle mix who scored a 102 / D on our behavioral quiz, and has previously bitten.
The primary issues to be addressed during our lesson were barking, leash manners, charging the front door and aggression with people. He recently bit a yard worker.
Upon my arrival, I did not meet Frodo because we wanted to try to keep his adrenaline level down. This did not work too well because from the moment I came into the home and during our training presentation he barked, and barked and barked. The good news is when we began working with him and the client, showing them our “leadership” exercises, both he and the client’s response to our dog training was amazing.
This email is from later the same day of our lesson. “Just returned from our evening walk. My neighbor couldn’t believe the difference in his behavior. She couldn’t believe it was just one lesson. Thank you for your valuable work. I’m feeling very confident that this is just what we needed. Have a good evening.”
The following email is from the next morning. “Good Morning Patrick, So far, so good. Have practiced this morning and took an abbreviated walk. He’s very subdued. Needed to (refocus) once when a large dog approached, and he sat and looked at me. ??????. First time ever! ”
Ty is a Doberman / Rottie mix, 4 1/2 years old, male. Started with food and toy aggression at 6 months. The last 6-8 months it has gotten worse. If the client’s girlfriend walks into the bedroom Ty will growl and now has started to snap. Ty drew blood on the girlfriend last night. He will snap without warning if people pet him too long for him. Will growl and lunge and snap at other dogs. Wants to interact with them on his terms. Sometimes it is fine, other times it is not. Did draw blood on a German Shepherd Dog at the dog park last year, the client thinks Ty was just playing to rough. Ty has been on anxiety medication 8-10 months due to excessive licking. Ty also demonstrates some aggression toward strangers entering the home.
We also met Ty after we shared with our client hot to #SpeakDog. During our dog training presentation, Ty was whining, barking and banging on a baby gate. I was concerned about the banging, especially with any stranger aggression issues! Once we demonstrated the “leadership” exercises and began to work with Ty and the clients, Ty turned his behavior right around.
Check out this email a few days after our lesson. “Hi Patrick, Things are going well since the lesson. Ty is a quick learner and is responding very well. We haven’t run into any issues yet–just are trying to make sure we do all of the activities each day to form the habits. Thanks, Brittany and Chris”
Then they wrote an AMAZING Google review!
